MSCI has added Laurus Labs, Lenskart Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions and Groww to its India Index, while removing Balkrishna Industries, SBI Cards and Payment Services, and Astral. The changes, resulting from MSCI’s August 2026 review, took effect on September 1, 2026.
The additions bring the four companies into the index’s current list of constituents. The review also removed the three outgoing companies: Balkrishna Industries, a tyre manufacturer; SBI Cards and Payment Services; and Astral. The research information does not provide details on the review criteria or the individual changes in index representation for the companies involved.
The revised index follows MSCI’s periodic review process for its India-focused benchmark. Laurus Labs, Lenskart Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions and Groww were identified as additions in the August review, while Balkrishna Industries, SBI Cards and Payment Services and Astral were identified as removals.
India’s weight in the MSCI Index is projected to rise to 11.9% following these adjustments. The figure is described as a projection linked to the changes, rather than a reported final weight. The available research does not specify the prior weight, the projected date for reaching 11.9%, or how much each stock contributed to the change.
The effective date means the updated constituent list applies from September 1, 2026. The research packet does not include information on expected fund flows, share-price reactions, investor commentary or the rationale for the inclusion and exclusion decisions.
