India rebuts Pakistan at UN, rejects ‘false’ account of Operation Sindoor and links action to terror attack
At the UN, India pushed back against Pakistan’s narrative on Operation Sindoor, calling it false and asserting India’s response was measured and aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure after the Pahalgam attack.
India has delivered a sharp rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations, rejecting what it described as a “false and self-serving” narrative around Operation Sindoor. Indian representatives said the facts were “clear and well documented” and argued that Pakistan’s statements attempted to obscure the context that led to India’s actions.
According to the account cited in Indian media reports, India linked Operation Sindoor to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2025 in which 26 civilians were killed. India said the UN Security Council had condemned the attack and called for accountability for perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors, and asserted that India’s subsequent response was focused on disabling terrorist infrastructure rather than escalating tensions.
The statement also underlined India’s broader position that terrorism should not be normalised in diplomatic discourse. India portrayed its actions as measured, responsible and intended to reduce the threat of further violence, while also criticising Pakistan’s attempt to reframe events as a propaganda victory.
The exchange comes amid a continuing cycle in which India and Pakistan take their disputes to global platforms, particularly on issues linked to cross-border terrorism and Jammu and Kashmir. For India, the messaging at the UN is meant to reinforce that its response followed internationally condemned violence and that it views Pakistan’s interventions as politically motivated rather than rooted in verifiable facts.
