Kisan Mazdoor Morcha Holds Protests Outside Deputy Commissioners’ Offices Across Punjab

The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha held one-day protests outside the Deputy Commissioner’s offices in 22 districts across Punjab on August 31, 2026, raising demands concerning farmers, agricultural labourers, youth, land, water and employment.
Among its key demands, the organisation sought procurement of crops at remunerative prices above the minimum support price (MSP). It also demanded compensation and government jobs for the families of farmers and labourers who died by suicide due to debt.
The group called for a long-term scientific policy to address recurring floods, depletion of the water table and increasing air and water pollution. It also sought a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against the India-US trade agreement and demanded the withdrawal of the Punjab Land Pooling Policy.
The Morcha described the protest as part of a broader struggle involving Punjab’s water, land, agriculture, employment, rural economy and future. It had mobilised people ahead of the agitation by putting up flex boards in villages across the state.
A gathering was also organised at Chabba village, where farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher addressed participants. The research packet does not provide details about the size of the gathering, attendance at the district protests or any response from the Punjab government.
