Juspay raises $50 million from WestBridge at $1.2 billion valuation; becomes first Indian unicorn of 2026
Payments infrastructure company Juspay has raised $50 million from WestBridge Capital in a round that values it at about $1.2 billion. The deal includes primary and secondary components, providing liquidity to early investors and employees, and makes Juspay the first Indian startup to turn unicorn in 2026.
Bengaluru-based payments infrastructure startup Juspay has closed a $50 million funding round led by WestBridge Capital, valuing the company at around $1.2 billion and making it India’s first unicorn of 2026, according to a report by The Economic Times.

The transaction includes both primary and secondary components. The company said the structure provides liquidity for early investors as well as employees through stock sales, while also bringing in fresh capital to support expansion plans.
Juspay, founded in 2012, provides payment infrastructure and orchestration software for large enterprises and banks. The company said it processes more than 300 million transactions daily and has an annualised total payment volume exceeding $1 trillion. Its client roster includes major consumer internet and financial services names.
The company has been expanding beyond its initial orchestration offerings into UPI and core banking-linked payments infrastructure, positioning itself as a backend technology provider. In parallel, it has been building a broader overseas footprint across multiple regions, signalling ambitions to operate as a global payments infrastructure layer rather than only an India-focused platform.
The fundraising comes at a time when investors are scrutinising unit economics and profitability more closely than in the earlier boom years. Juspay reported that it turned profitable in FY25, and the new round is likely to be read as a signal that select infrastructure-led fintech models remain attractive, especially those with scale and entrenched enterprise relationships.
Industry observers will watch how Juspay deploys the capital—particularly for product development, security and compliance, and international go-to-market—while balancing competitive tensions in India’s payments ecosystem, where large platforms, aggregators and orchestration layers increasingly overlap.
