According to the ministry’s statement, the tableau is designed to communicate India’s transition toward a modern, time-bound and citizen-centric justice system, with technology presented as the enabler of faster and more transparent processes.
The laws being highlighted
The tableau will reference the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakhsya Adhiniyam—new codes that replaced the Indian Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act.
The Home Ministry note points out that the three laws came into force on 1 July 2024, and the Republic Day showcase is meant to signal that the shift is no longer just legislative, but operational and nationwide.
